Princess Dawn Mist

Princess Dawn Mist

Princess Dawn Mist” was the title given to a few young women who acted as ambassadors or “leading ladies” of the Pikuni tribe for the visitors to Glacier National Park. Daisy Norris was the first. Outgoing and spirited, Norris believed in pulling her own weight, and the equality for women. In 1913, she left the reservation to attend women’s suffrage events in Washington DC. “Princess Dawn Mist” was the title of the ambassador or “leading lady” of the tribe for the visitors to Glacier Park.
She married William “White Quiver” Gilham. Their five sons would all go on to serve in the Second World War.
